ABD Bagram Hava Üssü’nden çekildi

ABD ordusu ve NATO güçlerinin Bagram Hava Üssünden çekildiği açıklandı.

 

Pentagon tarafından yapılan açıklamada ordunun üssü boşalttığı bilgisi yer aldı. Kimliklerinin açıklanmaması şartıyla  Associated Press’e konuşan iki ABD’li yetkili, üssün tamamının Afgan Ulusal Güvenlik ve Savunma Kuvvetleri’ne devredildiğini söyledi.

 

Kabil kuzeyinde bulunan Bagram Hava Üssü, ABD ve NATO öncülüğünde Taliban’a ve yabancı güçlere karşı hava saldırıları için kullanılan stratejik bir üs konumundaydı.

 

Taliban’ın birçok vilayette hakimiyeti ele almasıyla ABD’nin üsten çekilip çekilmeyeceği tartışma konusuydu. Ancak daha sonra Biden yönetimi geri çekilmenin devam edeceğini açıkladı.

 

ABD ile Taliban 2020’de anlaşmış ve 2021 Mayıs ayında ABD Başkanı Biden, Afganistan’dan çekileceklerini duyurmuştu. Biden, Nisan ayında ABD’nin Afganistan’dan çekilme işlemlerinin en kısa süre içerisinde başlatılacağını söylemişti. 11 Eylül’e kadar sürecek olan geri çekilmede kalan 2,500 – 3,500 ABD askerinin ne zaman Afganistan’dan ayrılacağı konusu ABD’nin güvenlik endişeleri nedeniyle henüz açıklanmadı.

 

Öte yandan ABD, başkent Kabil’deki büyükelçiliğinin korumalığı için yaklaşık 650 askeri Afganistan’da barındıracak.
