Helikopterin rotası da Ankara’da kuşku uyandırdı; SDG kontrolündeki Haseke’den Süleymaniye’ye ulaşmak için muhtemelen Türk radarlarından ve gizli toplantıların tespitinden kaçınmak için düzensiz bir uçuş planı kullandılar.
Al Monitor, helikopterlerin alışılmadık derecede alçak irtifada uçtuğunu, bunun da Kandil’deki PKK karargahına daha yakın olan Gara gibi nihai hedefe giden yolda gizli bir mola anlamına gelebileceğini iddia etmişti. Irak Kürdistan Bölgesi Güvenlik Konseyi, helikopterlerin Kürdistan Bölgesi’nin resmi güvenlik kurumlarına bildirimde bulunmadan Süleymaniye ile Suriye’nin kuzeydoğusu arasında uçtuğunu söyledi.
Türk kaynaklar, KYB’nin uçuşlarla bağlantısının açıklanması yükümlülüğünün IKBY ve Irak makamlarının sorumluluğu olduğunu söyledi.
