ABD Dışişleri Bakanı Mike Pompeo geçtiğimiz günlerde Avrupa turu kapsamında İtalya ve Vatikan’a bir ziyaret gerçekleştirdi. Pompeo, bu ziyaretlerde Vakitan’ın Çin ile olan ilişkilerini ele aldı. Vatikan’ın Çin ile olan ilişkilerini geliştirme çabalarını eleştirirken, Çin’in birçok dini ve etnik gruba baskı yaptığını ifade etti. Vatikan’dan Çin’e karşı ‘cesur’ bir duruş sergilemesini istedi.
Mike Pompeo, İtalya ziyaretinde Başbakan Giuseppe Conte ve Dışişleri Bakanı Luigi Di Maio ile görüştü. Pompeo, bu görüşmelerde Çin’in İtalya üzerinde ekonomik varlığını güçlendirme çabalarından endişe duyduklarını dile getirdi. ABD, Çin ile bağlantılı teknoloji şirketlerinin dünya genelindeki ülkelerin ulusal güvenliğini ve vatandaşların özel hayatlarının gizliliğini tehdit ettiğini savunuyor.
Cuma günü İtalyan bir gazetenin gerçekleştirdiği röportajda konuşan ABD Dışişleri Bakanı Mike Pompeo, Huawei yatırımlarının düzenli borsa işlemlerinden ziyade ‘yağmacı atılımlar’ olduğunu ve tüm ülkelerin bu işlemleri yasaklaması gerektiğini söyledi
‘’Tüm ülkeler bu işlemleri yasaklamalı’’
Huawei yatırımlarının şirketsel olmadığını, Çin tarafından sübvanse edildiklerini vurgulayan Pompeo, ticari işlemlerin şeffaf ve serbest bir şekilde gerçekleşmediğini dile getirdi. Bu gibi yatırımların sadece Çin güvenlik cihazlarının yararına gerçekleştiği ifadesinde bulundu.
Huwaei yatırımlarını yağmacı eylemler olarak niteleyen Pompeo, tüm ülkelerin bu gibi hareketler karşısında önlem alması gerektiğini söyledi. Çin’in yurtdışındaki planlarını önlemek için Avrupa ve ABD’yi güçlerini birleştirme çağrısında bulundu.
