Somali Enformasyon Bakanı Osman Dube, ulusal devlet televizyonuna yaptığı açıklamada, Kenya ile diplomatik ilişkilerin kesildiğini açıkladı.
Dube yaptığı açıklamada, hükümetin Kenya’daki tüm diplomatlarını ülkeye dönmeleri emri verirken, başkent Mogadişu’daki Kenyalı diplomatlara ülkeyi terk etmeleri için 7 gün süre tanıdı.
Somali’den tek taraflı olarak bağımsızlığını ilan eden Somaliland’ın başkanı Muse Bihi Abdi’nin Kenya Devlet Başkanı Uhuru Kenyatta ile bir araya gelmesinin ardından tüm diplomatik bağların koparılması kararının alındığı ifade edildi.
Dube, “Kenya ile diplomatik ilişkilerin sonlandırılması, Nairobi hükümetinin Somali bağımsızlığına müdahale etme girişimlerine bir yanıttır.” dedi.
Öte yandan Somali, komşu ülkelerle karşılıklı dayanışma ilkelerini desteklediğini ve dostça ilişkileri sürdürmeye devam edeceğini ancak Kenya hükümetinin Somali egemenliğine karşı işlediği ihlalleri ve iç siyasi müdahaleleri tanımadığını, bu hareketlerin uluslararası alanda kabul görmüş diplomatik ilişkilerle uyumlu olmadığına inandığını duyurdu.
Geçen ay Somali, Kenya’nın ülke üzerinde istikrarsızlaştırma planları yapmak ve gelecek yılki seçimlere müdahale etmekle suçlayarak Kenya büyükelçisini sınır dışı etmiş ve Nairobi’deki kendi büyükelçisini geri çağırmıştı.
