Barış görüşmelerine rağmen çatışmaların devam ettiği Afganistan’da kötüleşen ekonomik şartlar, yoksul insanları yasa dışı organ ticaretine itiyor. Savaş ve küresel pandeminin ekonomik olarak yıkıcı şekilde vurduğu Afganistan’da organ ticareti, kısa yoldan para kazanmanın yeni yöntemi olarak yayılıyor.
Fakir Afgan vatandaşları organ ticaretine aracılık eden hastaneler sayesinde masrafları alıcıya ait olarak organlarını satıyor. Herat’ta bir organ alıcısı hastane önünde bekleyen insanlar alıcıların organları satan kişilerin hastane masraflarını ve organ ücretlerini ödediğini ifade ediyor. Hastaneler, yerli ve yabancı alıcılar, aracılar ve hastaneler çevresinde gerçekleşen organ alışverişi bu şekilde büyük bir ticaret ağı oluşturuyor.
Afganistan batısındaki Herat kenti bu organ satışlarında bir merkez haline gelmiş durumda. Kentte bulunan ‘böbrek nakil’ hastanesinde gerçekleşen organ ticareti, daha çok halk arasında maddi durumu sıkıntıda olan kişileri cezp ediyor. İnsanların sadece bir böbrek ile birlikte hayatını idare etme olasılığı en çok satışa sunulan organın böbrek olmasına neden oldu.
Böbreklerini satan birçok kişinin amacı ise elde ettikleri gelirlerle hayatlarını etkileyen borçlardan kurtulmak ve temel ihtiyaçlarını karşılayabilmek.
New York Times’da yer alan bir habere göre, söz konusu böbrek satışları Herat vilayetindeki Lokman Hekim Hastanesi’nde gerçekleşiyor. Beş yıl içerisinde binden fazla nakil işlemi yapan hastanenin işlem ücretlerinden iyi bir gelir elde ettiği de hem gazete hem de Afgan medyası tarafından iddia ediliyor. Nakil süreci hakkında Times’a konuşan hastane hekimi Dr. Farid Ahmed Ejaz, sürecin alıcıları ve satıcıları bağladığını, hastanenin nakillerde bir sorumluluk kabul etmediğini söyledi.
Böbrek ticaretinin Afganistan’da normal bir hale geldiğini söyleyen Doktor Ejaz, insanların ülkede evlatlarını sattıklarını, böbrek satışının bunun yanında bir hiç olduğunu vurguluyor.
Başkent Kabil’den böbrek satın alan Gulabuddin adındaki bir imam, böbreği asıl fiyatından ucuza aldığı için bu ticaretin kendisi adına karlı bir alışveriş olduğunu belirtti. İmam, 4 bin 500 dolar olan böbreği 3 bin 500 dolara aldığını ve aracıya yalnızca 80 dolar ödediğinden bahsetti. Durumun dini açıdan değerlendirmesini yapan imam ‘’Kişilerin rızası varsa, İslam açısından sıkıntı bir durum yok,” dedi.
Herat Halk Sağlığı Müdürü Dr. Abdul Hâkim Tamanna, Afganistan’daki böbrek satışlarından haberdar olduklarını ancak hükümetin yapabileceği çok bir şey olmadığını aktardı. Fakir ülkelerde organ ticaretlerinin yaygın olduğundan bahseden Tamanna, bu ticareti engellemeyen bir yasanın mevcut olmamasından yakındı.
