Yabancı gemilerin Tayvan Boğazı’ndan geçişini egemenlik ihlali olarak gören Pekin, ABD Filosu’nun boğaz üzerindeki tüm hareketlerinin incelemeye tabii tutulduğunu açıklamıştı. Tayvan Boğazı’nı uluslararası suların bir parçası olarak gören ABD, boğazı sıklıkla kullanmakta.
