Ekim ayı başında Tokyo’da Japon ve Avustralyalı mevkidaşlarıyla görüşen Pompeo’nun Hindistan’ı da Çin’i çevrelemeyi hedefleyen bloğa davet etmesi ve bir sonraki görüşmeye Hindistan’ı resmen davet etmesi bekleniyor.
Ek olarak bu dört ülkenin Bengal Körfezi’nde yapacağı ortak tatbikatın detaylarının da konuşulması bekleniyor.
Hindistan’ın ardından Pompeo’nun durağı Sri Lanka olacak. Gittikçe otoriterleşen ve Çin devlet bankalarına büyük miktarda borcu olan Sri Lanka – ABD ilişkileri gerilmeye devam ediyor. Sri Lanka’nın Çin’e karşı büyüyen bağımlılığı bir yandan ülke ekonomisini olumsuz etkilerden bir yandan mevcut hükümet iç politikalarda Çin desteğinin tadını çıkarıyor.
Pompeo’nun Sri Lanka’da insan haklarına vurgu yaparken Çin desteğine karşı yetkilileri uyarması bekleniyor.
Çin sermayesine borçlanan başka bir bölge ülkesi, Pompeo’nun Sri Lanka’dan sonraki durağı olacak. Maldivler ve ABD arasında geçtiğimiz aylarda Hint Okyanus’unda işbirliğinii geliştirmek amacıyla güvenlik ve işbirliği anlaşması imzalanmıştı.
Pompeo’nun olumlu bir havada geçmesi beklenen bu ziyarette Çin tehdidine karşı alınacak ortak önemleri konuşacağı ve Çin’den alınan krediler konusunda uyarılarda bulunması bekleniyor.
Pompeo’nun yoğun trafiğinin son adresi ise Endonezya olacak.
