ABD Dışişleri Bakanı Güneydoğu Asya’da bir dizi seyahat gerçekleştirecek. Dört ülkeyi ziyaret edecek Pompeo’nun ajandasında yükselen Çin tehdidine karşı atılacak adımlar var.
Pekin yönetimiyse ziyaret öncesinde açıklamalarda bulunarak ABD’yi Soğuk Savaş mantalitesinde olmakla suçladı.
İlk olarak Hindistan’a gidecek olan Pompeo, Savunma Bakanı Mike Esper’le birlikte mevkidaşlarıyla görüşecek. Görüşmede Çin ve Hindistan arasındaki sınır anlaşmazlıkları, Tayvan’a silah satışı ve istihbarat paylaşımı ana konular olacak.
Uzun yıllardır Amerika’dan hassas güdümlü ekipmanlar alan Hindistan’ın Amerikan uyduları aracılığıyla sağlanacak hassas bilgilere ve deşifreli iletişime erişimi olması bekleniyor. Böylece, Çin ile olan sınır gerilimi başta olmak üzere birçok alanda Hindistan, güdümlü Amerikan ekipmanlarını milimetrik hassasiyetle kullanabilecek.
Ekim ayı başında Tokyo’da Japon ve Avustralyalı mevkidaşlarıyla görüşen Pompeo’nun Hindistan’ı da Çin’i çevrelemeyi hedefleyen bloğa davet etmesi ve bir sonraki görüşmeye Hindistan’ı resmen davet etmesi bekleniyor.
Ek olarak bu dört ülkenin Bengal Körfezi’nde yapacağı ortak tatbikatın detaylarının da konuşulması bekleniyor.
Hindistan’ın ardından Pompeo’nun durağı Sri Lanka olacak. Gittikçe otoriterleşen ve Çin devlet bankalarına büyük miktarda borcu olan Sri Lanka – ABD ilişkileri gerilmeye devam ediyor. Sri Lanka’nın Çin’e karşı büyüyen bağımlılığı bir yandan ülke ekonomisini olumsuz etkilerden bir yandan mevcut hükümet iç politikalarda Çin desteğinin tadını çıkarıyor.
Pompeo’nun Sri Lanka’da insan haklarına vurgu yaparken Çin desteğine karşı yetkilileri uyarması bekleniyor.
Çin sermayesine borçlanan başka bir bölge ülkesi, Pompeo’nun Sri Lanka’dan sonraki durağı olacak. Maldivler ve ABD arasında geçtiğimiz aylarda Hint Okyanus’unda işbirliğinii geliştirmek amacıyla güvenlik ve işbirliği anlaşması imzalanmıştı.
Pompeo’nun olumlu bir havada geçmesi beklenen bu ziyarette Çin tehdidine karşı alınacak ortak önemleri konuşacağı ve Çin’den alınan krediler konusunda uyarılarda bulunması bekleniyor.
Pompeo’nun yoğun trafiğinin son adresi ise Endonezya olacak. Jakarta’ya bu ayın başında yeni büyükelçi atayan Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, Güney Çin Denizi’ndeki münhasır ekonomik bölge tartışmaları başta olmak üzere birçok konuda Endonezya’yla işbirliği yapmak istiyor. Bu konular içerisinde Endonezya’ya silah satışı da var.
Pompeo Hint-Pasifik ziyaretlerine hazırlanırken Çinli yetkililerden tepki de gecikmedi. Bugün açıklamalarda bulunan Çin Dışişleri Bakanlığı sözcüsü Zhao Lijian, ABD’nin “Soğuk Savaş mantalitesiyle hareket ettiğini ve ülkeleri taraf seçmeye zorladığını” söyledi.
